Membership Requirements
K-State's Collegiate chapter of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) is open to all music majors, regardless of emphasis! In order to be considered a member in good standing with K-State NAfME, members must pay both chapter and national dues, attend meetings regularly (no more than 1 unexcused absence/semester), and participate in fundraisers and events hosted by the chapter. Membership in K-State NAfME is a requirement for music education students.
Absence Form
In the event that you must miss a K-State NAfME event, please fill out the Absence Form within 24 hours of the event and email any supporting documents (doctor's note, class schedule, etc.) to [email protected]. You should hear back within a few days as to whether your absence will be excused. Each K-State NAfME member may have one unexcused absence per semester.
Chapter Dues
Chapter dues are paid to the K-State Chapter of NAfME Collegiate. These dues go towards hosting guest speakers, upfront costs for fundraisers (like ordering t-shirts, supplies, and getting change from the bank), and cover registration to the annual Kansas Music Educator's Association (KMEA) In-Service Workshop held in February in Wichita, KS.
Rates are as follows:
$8 until October 5th
$10 from October 6th to November 2nd
$15 from November 3rd to December 7th.
If dues are not paid by the December 7th deadline, the price will increase $5 per month until May 2016.
National Dues
National dues are a requirement for all K-State NAfME members and are paid through the National Association for Music Education. National NAfME membership gains you access to professional journals, discounts on books, supplementary materials, and some serious networking opportunities! National membership is required for all K-State NAfME members and is necessary in order to attend the KMEA ISW. After paying dues, a membership card will be mailed to you. A copy/photo of your 2015-16 National Membership Card must be emailed to [email protected] by December 11th, 2014.
